Partnership with Parents

Working in partnership with parents is paramount to children’s learning and development and here at little Leo’s Nursery we involve parents and support them any way we can.

Working together means your child benefits from the familiarity of their everyday routine. We plan for your child’s individual needs, providing a happy continuity between home and our nursery. With this partnership, you can be confident that your child is in a stimulating environment and being cared for throughout their time at Little Leos Nursery.

Each child will be allocated a member of staff known to the parent as your child's 'Key Person'. They will have knowledge and understanding on how children learn and develop and will have the unique understanding of what your child's currents interests and needs are. The ‘key person’ liaises with parents to ensure your child is receiving the best care for their individual needs. It’s also good for parents to get to know their child’s ‘Key Person’ to help them feel confident leaving them in their capable hands and to discuss any queries they might have. The relationship between the 'Key Person' and parent will begin as soon as your child starts settling.

Enrolling your child:

When your child is settling at Little Leo’s Nursery we provide you with an enrollment pack. In this you will receive:

•          A parent’s guide to the early years foundation stage,

•          Little Leo’s Nursery policies and procedures,

•          Enrollment forms,

•          Information on the key person system,

•          First Steps ‘Getting to know you’

•          EY-Log Registration and consent form.

In this pack you can learn more about Little Leo’s Nursery and more importantly we can learn more about your child to help us care for their individual needs. Through the ‘getting to know you’ our carers can find out what your child likes and dislikes, their routine, dietary requirements and anything they may need our support with.

Parent’s involvement:

Here at Little Leo’s Nursery we welcome parents to be involved with the nursery as much as they can. We have an open door policy in order for parents to feel they can approach us for assistance, advice or to discuss any issues both positive and negative. Parents are welcome to come in and do activities or story times with the children whenever they are available and often help us in celebrating and learning more about various religious festivals.

We have a ‘Parents Committee’ where the parents have an opportunity to meet with our manager each term and discuss dates for the diary any ideas to improve the children’s nursery experience.  We also hold social gatherings and fund raisers (Such as sports day and children in need) throughout the year, these are also good ways to build strong and happy relationships between the parents and the nursery through having fun.

“The management and staff have strong partnerships with parents, which supports children’s learning at home and in the nursery”  Jennifer Liverpool Ofsted Inspector.
